PHILIPPINES GEARS UP FOR LARGEST JOINT MILITARY EXERCISE

The Philippines will participate for the first time in Talisman Sabre, the largest military exercise in the southern hemisphere, according to Australian Acting Ambassador to Manila Moya Collett.

Speaking at a maritime security forum, Collett highlighted Australia’s growing defense cooperation with the Philippines, including Exercise ALON and its participation in the US-Philippines Balikatan drills.

Talisman Sabre 2025, set to be the largest iteration of the biennial exercise, will involve 19 nations and include amphibious landings, live fire drills, and joint air, land, and maritime operations.

Conducted across Australian training sites and the Coral Sea, the exercise is a key platform for fostering interoperability among regional and global partners.

The event underscores Australia’s commitment to maritime security and territorial defense in response to the needs of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
