The Philippines and Canada have signed a cybersecurity agreement to address evolving regional security issues during the inaugural Defense Cooperation Working Group (DCWG) meeting on January 17, 2025.
Philippine Defense Assistant Secretary Arsenio Andolong and Canada’s Assistant Deputy Minister for Policy Scott Miller led discussions on enhancing bilateral defense relations.
Both sides emphasized the importance of collaboration in tackling shared challenges such as cybersecurity, climate change, and maritime issues.
Assistant Secretary Marita Yoro hailed the meeting as a key milestone in deepening defense cooperation between the two nations.
Canada reaffirmed its commitment to supporting regional stability and upholding principles of sovereignty, democracy, and the rule of law.
