President Marcos and South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol have agreed to enhance maritime security cooperation, emphasizing the need to uphold a rules-based order in the South China Sea.
They signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen ties between their coast guards, focusing on transnational crime, information sharing, and search and rescue missions.
Both leaders elevated their countries’ relationship to a strategic partnership, covering areas such as defense, economic development, and energy security.
South Korea will assist in the Philippines’ nuclear energy plans, including a feasibility study for rehabilitating the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant.
Additionally, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula and opposed North Korea’s nuclear activities.
