The main delegation of the 101-strong Team Philippines will depart for Sanya, China, on Monday, ahead of the 6th Asian Beach Games opening ceremony after a 10-year hiatus.
The opening ceremony will be held at the Yasha Park Phase 1 Ring Theater, where two-time world jiu-jitsu champion Annie Ramirez will serve as the Philippine flag bearer.
Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino expressed high expectations for both the opening and closing ceremonies, highlighting the country’s upcoming role as host of the 2028 Asian Beach Games in Cebu.
Team Philippines will compete in multiple sports, including beach volleyball, jiu-jitsu, 3×3 basketball, aquathlon, and dragon boat, with several athletes seen as strong medal contenders.
The Philippines has previously earned five gold, 10 silver, and 35 bronze medals in past editions of the Asian Beach Games.
