PHILIPPINE LEAGUE OF CITIES ENDORSES BAN ON OFFICIALS’ ONLINE GAMBLING

The League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) has expressed full support for the DILG’s ban on online gambling for local government officials and employees.

LCP National President and San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora announced that the league’s 149 member cities will promote and enforce the directive nationwide.

The ban, outlined in DILG Memorandum Circular 2025-082, prohibits all elected and appointed officials from accessing online gambling platforms or participating in any form of online betting.

Zamora emphasized the importance of the measure in maintaining integrity and focus among public servants, urging citizens to report violations.

This initiative follows a recent incident where a lawmaker was caught watching an e-sabong livestream during the President’s State of the Nation Address.
