PhilHealth will expand its benefit package for moderate and severe leptospirosis cases beginning July 15, with coverage of up to P411,000 for qualified patients requiring intensive treatment, Malacañang announced.
The enhanced package includes higher benefits for hospital care, hemodialysis, and peritoneal dialysis, while free consultations and preventive treatment through the YAKAP program will continue.
The expansion comes as the Department of Health recorded a six-percent increase in leptospirosis cases during the first half of the year.
Meanwhile, PhilHealth reported that 3,149 public and private health facilities have adopted certified electronic medical records systems to improve healthcare services and claims processing.
The agency said the shift to digital records is expected to speed up reimbursements and provide more efficient support for accredited health facilities.
