Former Budget Undersecretary Christopher Lao was arrested in Davao City for alleged graft related to the Pharmally controversy.
Lao was apprehended by the PNP’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on Sept. 12, based on a Sandiganbayan warrant.
He is accused of violating the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, with bail set at P90,000.
Lao and former Health Secretary Francisco Duque III are facing graft charges for mishandling the procurement of medical supplies during the pandemic.
Pharmally, a small company secured P11 billion in government contracts despite its limited capital.
