The Department of Health (DOH) reported 1,532 confirmed COVID-19 cases from Jan. 4 to July 11, a 70 percent decrease from the 5,070 cases recorded during the same period last year.
Despite the decline, the agency said it will continue monitoring the situation through its regional offices and local government partners while maintaining disease surveillance nationwide.
The DOH also urged the public to continue practicing proper hygiene, including regular handwashing and covering their mouths and noses when coughing or sneezing.
It reminded those experiencing COVID-19 symptoms to seek medical consultation promptly to help prevent further transmission.
The agency emphasized that while COVID-19 is no longer classified as a pandemic, it remains a global health concern.
