The Philippine Conference on Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) kicked off on October 28 at the PICC in Pasay City, highlighting the role of women in community-driven peacebuilding.
The three-day event, led by the Department of Budget and Management and co-organized by OPAPRU and the Philippine Commission on Women, aims to amplify women’s voices and strengthen their capacity to engage in security and governance.
DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said the WPS Agenda will now be tied to the national budget through the Gender and Development program and emphasized the Philippines’ goal to lead regional WPS efforts ahead of ASEAN 2026.
Guest of honor Solicitor General Darlene Marie Berberabe honored local Filipina peacebuilders, highlighting successful community dispute resolution in the Bangsamoro as a model of sustainable peace.
The conference brings together over 600 delegates to foster collaboration, guided by the four pillars of the new National Action Plan on WPS 2023-2033.
