The Philippines is pushing for stronger coordination among Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) members to combat transnational crimes and emerging security threats.
Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla emphasized that no ASEAN member should have to confront criminal networks and cross-border threats alone.
The country is leading regional discussions during the 20th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime and its related meetings in Metro Manila from October 19 to 21.
The discussions focus on strengthening cooperation against human trafficking, cybercrime, drug trafficking, money laundering, and illicit arms smuggling.
As ASEAN chair for 2026, the Philippines aims to improve information-sharing, law enforcement coordination, ion and regional responses to criminal activities that cross national borders.
