The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing global labor protections for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), especially domestic workers.
During a forum on ILO Conventions 189 and 190 in Mandaluyong City, Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac emphasized the importance of social dialogue in shaping policies to protect OFWs.
The Philippines continues to work on strengthening bilateral labor relations with countries like Japan, South Korea, Croatia, Austria, and Slovenia to improve worker welfare.
The country has secured 47 bilateral labor agreements, the highest in the world, and is actively advocating for fair labor practices and emerging challenges such as climate change and ethical recruitment.
Cacdac also highlighted the preparation for the 2026 Global Compact on Migration to further enhance labor protections for migrant workers.
