PBBM SETS TO SIGN 2024 BUDGET ON WEDNESDAY

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is expected to sign the PHP5.76-trillion 2024 national budget into law this week, according to House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

Romualdez shared the news with reporters in Tokyo, stating that the signing is likely to take place on Wednesday. Although Marcos had initially planned to sign the budget before leaving for Japan, there are still some printing requirements that need to be completed before the President can affix his signature.

Marcos is set to return to Manila from Japan today following his participation in the 50th Commemorative of the ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation Summit.

Last week, both the Senate and the House of Representatives ratified the proposed 2024 budget.

The budget, which amounts to 21.7 percent of the country’s gross domestic product, represents a 9.5 percent increase compared to the PHP5.268 trillion 2023 budget.
