The Pasig police have disbanded their Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) after eight operatives were implicated in an alleged robbery during a recent anti-narcotics operation.
All DEU members, including the unit head, have been relieved from their posts, and a new team will be vetted before reinstatement.
The accused officers, along with a civilian asset, allegedly stole jewelry worth P500,000 and two motorcycle keys from residents during the operation, though none of the items have been recovered. Pasig Police Chief Col.
Hendrix Mangaldan said the complainants were not on the police watchlist, and the officers’ backgrounds are under review.
The eight officers are now under restrictive custody while administrative and criminal cases are prepared against them.
