PALACE WARNS OFFICIALS AGAINST SHARING FAKE NEWS AMID AI VIDEO CONTROVERSY

Malacañang warned public officials against spreading disinformation after Sen. Ronald dela Rosa and Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte shared an AI-generated video supporting Vice President Sara Duterte.

The video, which featured fake student testimonies defending Duterte from her impeachment, drew criticism for misleading content.

Presidential Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro emphasized that government officials could face penalties for sharing or commenting on false information.

Vice President Duterte defended the video, claiming AI content is acceptable if not monetized, and accused troll farms of trying to discredit her ahead of the 2028 elections.

The controversy follows an OpenAI report linking a PR firm to a pro-Marcos, anti-Sara online campaign, which Duterte said validates her claims of politically motivated attacks.
