A new low-pressure area (LPA 11b) east of the Philippines is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Sunday, Nov. 23, and may develop into a tropical depression named “Verbena” within 24 hours, PAGASA said.
The LPA, located 1,130 kilometers east of Southern Mindanao, is forecast to move northwest and bring moderate to heavy rains to large parts of Visayas and Southern Luzon from Nov. 24 to 26.
Northern Samar and Eastern Samar could see heavy to intense rainfall of 100 to 200 millimeters by Tuesday, while other provinces, including Cebu, Bohol, Camarines, and Negros may experience moderate to heavy rain.
PAGASA also warned of additional rainfall from the shear line, affecting areas in Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, and Quezon, with higher totals in mountainous and previously flooded areas.
Meanwhile, the easterlies and northeast monsoon (amihan) will continue to bring cloudy skies and rain showers over Southern Luzon, Bicol Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley.
