Kapuso star Alden Richards is making his directorial debut with Out of Order, a drama-thriller he also co-wrote, produced, and starred in, set for Netflix release on October 3.
The film, which premiered at the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival, tackles corruption, injustice, and abuse of power through the story of a lawyer defending his estranged father, who is accused of murder.
Richards, credited under his real name Richard Reyes Faulkerson Jr., took full creative control of the project through Myriad Entertainment’s partnership with Viva Films.
Despite challenges in condensing the film’s original three-and-a-half-hour cut to meet Netflix standards, Alden said he preserved its core message on truth and justice.
With this bold transition from actor to director, Richards signals a new chapter in his career and aims to position himself as a storyteller unafraid to confront urgent social issues.
