OPTIMISM PREVAILS! FILIPINOS FEEL COUNTRY IS HEADED IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION

A recent OCTA research survey reveals that a majority of adult Filipinos, totaling 64%, believe that the Philippines is progressing in the right direction. The findings are based on the Tugon ng Masa 2024 survey for Q1, conducted from December 10-14, 2023, through face-to-face interviews with 1,200 respondents.

The survey’s margin of error stands at ±3% with a 95% confidence level. Regionally, Filipinos in the National Capital Region (NCR) show the highest agreement at 81%, followed by Visayas at 72%, Mindanao at 62%, and Balanced Luzon at 57%.

Compared to October 2023, where 62% expressed positivity, the sentiment remained stable. Furthermore, 76% of respondents from economic Class ABC and 77% aged 75 and above also believe the Philippines is on the right path. Conversely, younger demographics, particularly those aged 18 to 24, express a more skeptical outlook.

Regarding educational attainment, respondents with college or postgraduate education exhibit the highest confidence at 71%, while those with no formal education or elementary education only express the lowest confidence at 61%.

The survey underscores varied perceptions across demographics, reflecting ongoing assessments of the current administration’s policies and programs.
