A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar and Thailand on Friday, causing widespread damage.
The tremor hit Sagaing in central Myanmar and also affected northern and central Thailand, including Bangkok, at around 1:20 p.m.
Local authorities have reported significant destruction, including a collapsed skyscraper in Bangkok and a major hospital in Myanmar turned into a “mass casualty area.”
The Philippine Embassies in Yangon and Bangkok reported that no Filipinos have been injured so far, with officials monitoring the situation closely.
Filipinos in both countries have been advised to stay calm and contact the embassies for assistance if needed.
