Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla revealed that a new civilian witness, backed by physical evidence, is set to testify in the case of the over 100 missing cockfight enthusiasts, strengthening the claims of whistleblower Julie Patidongan.
A police commander was relieved from duty for actions seen as detrimental to the investigation, although he is not directly implicated in the disappearances.
The National Police Commission has also filed administrative charges against 12 police officers, including three officials, based on Patidongan’s sworn statement.
These officers are accused of involvement in the abduction and alleged killing of the sabungeros, allegedly ordered by gaming figure Charlie “Atong” Ang.
President Marcos reaffirmed in his recent SONA that those responsible will be held accountable.
