The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will release guidelines next week for filing certificates of candidacy (CoCs) for the 2025 elections, marking the first time these guidelines will be made public to enhance transparency.
Candidates can file their CoCs from October 1 to October 7, excluding October 6, with voter registration closing on September 30.
National candidates will submit their CoCs at a designated tent at the Manila Hotel, while local candidates will do so in their respective regions.
A total of 18,271 positions are available, including 12 Senate seats and numerous local government posts.
For the first time, Comelec will publicly post all CoCs to ensure candidate qualifications and prevent issues similar to the 2022 Bamban, Tarlac incident, while adhering to data privacy regulations.
