NEW ARMY CHIEF IN CENTRAL MINDANAO GAINS LOCAL SECTOR SUPPORT

Brigadier General Donald Gumiran has assumed leadership of the Philippine Army’s 6th Infantry Division in Central Mindanao, succeeding Lt. Gen. Antonio Nafarrete.

Gumiran has received strong backing from former violent extremists, Bangsamoro officials, and local leaders for his peacebuilding initiatives aimed at fostering interfaith solidarity and reconciliation.

Reforming ex-members of Dawlah Islamiya and Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters pledged support to convince their remaining former companions to surrender and reintegrate into society.

Governor Emmylou Talino-Mendoza and the Regional Development Council 12 committed to assisting Gumiran’s efforts, including the implementation of the Small Arms and Light Weapons Management Program to reduce unlicensed firearms.

Key Bangsamoro ministers also vowed to support Gumiran’s mission of promoting unity and resolving clan conflicts across the region.
