President Marcos inaugurated Tunnel Five of the Angat Water Transmission Improvement Project, which will provide a more reliable water supply to Metro Manila and nearby areas.
The tunnel strengthens the Umiray-Angat-Ipo-La Mesa system, which delivers nearly 90 percent of the water used by about 20 million residents.
Tunnel Five increases the system’s capacity from six billion to almost eight billion liters per day, ensuring an uninterrupted supply for more families.
The project also allows maintenance on existing tunnels without disrupting water delivery.
Officials highlighted that the improvement, supported by Maynilad and Manila Water, will help communities better prepare for droughts and climate change impacts.
