The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said Sen. Robin Padilla is considered a “person of interest” in the reported escape of Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa from the Senate early Thursday morning.
NBI Director Melvin Matibag said Padilla may help explain dela Rosa’s whereabouts since he was reportedly the last person seen with the senator before he disappeared.
Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano also confirmed that dela Rosa left the Senate premises with Padilla, based on a report from the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms.
Dela Rosa reportedly left the Senate around 2:30 a.m., hours after a shooting incident inside the complex.
The NBI said it is coordinating with the Department of Justice on the next steps regarding dela Rosa’s case.
