A retired military general allegedly recruited 103 security personnel for fugitive former lawmaker Zaldy Co, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said.
Among them were 18 former Marines who claimed to have delivered cash and acted as Co’s security escorts.
The personnel were reportedly supposed to work for two years, but Co disappeared in July 2025 before the term ended.
NBI Director Melvin Matibag identified the general as a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1975, though his name was not released.
The agency may subpoena the retired general to assist in the ongoing investigation.
