NBI ASSIGNED TO INVESTIGATE BOMB THREATS TARGETING GOVERNMENT OFFICES

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has been directed by Justice Secretary Boying Remulla to investigate the bomb threats that targeted various government offices in the Philippines.

Similar threats were also received by members of the House of Representatives last week.

Several agencies, including the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), were affected by the threats. DepEd even suspended office work and held online classes instead.

The sender used the name Takahiro Karasawa, which was also associated with previous bomb threats targeting the MRT-3 system and other countries.

The NBI has noted that the name Karasawa has been associated with bomb threats in different countries, raising concerns about a potential pattern

The Philippine National Police (PNP) later deemed the threats at DepEd and DENR as hoaxes. NBI Director Medardo de Lemos pledged a thorough and impartial investigation to ensure justice.
