The Navotas City government, in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology (DoST) and Technological University of the Philippines (TUP), launched the deployment of aqua trash collector bots (Aquabot) to clean the city’s waterways.
Mayor John Rey Tiangco emphasized the Aquabot’s role in enhancing cleanliness and sustainability, urging residents to actively participate in keeping Navotas clean.
Developed by TUP and funded by DoST, the Aquabot is capable of collecting up to 20 kilos of garbage per hour in small bodies of water like creeks and canals.
Training will be provided to twenty residents per barangay to operate the Aquabot effectively, aiming to improve solid waste management across the city.
