REWARD OFFERED FOR INFORMATION ON STOLEN AMORSOLO PAINTING

The city government of Silay in Negros Occidental is offering a P25,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of a stolen painting by national artist Fernando Amorsolo.

The 1936 artwork, titled “Mango Harvester,” was taken from the Hofileña Heritage House and Museum.

Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson has directed the police to prioritize its recovery.

Initial investigations indicate that two suspects, who provided false names in the museum’s guest logbook, stole the painting during a tour.

The Silay mayor has promised increased security in local museums and assured the public that the painting, valued at millions of pesos, will be recovered soon.
