Senator Bong Go has renewed his call for the swift implementation of the Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act, which mandates the establishment of resilient disaster response systems nationwide.
The law focuses on building standardized evacuation centers with adequate space, sanitation, ventilation, and essential aid for vulnerable groups.
The Office of Civil Defense confirmed that the law’s implementing rules and regulations have been approved, and local governments are now tasked with submitting proposed evacuation center sites for hazard assessments.
Full construction and retrofitting of these centers are expected to begin in late 2025 and continue through 2026.
Go emphasized that his role includes not only legislation but also oversight to ensure government agencies properly carry out the law.
