The Philippines leads ASEAN with 121 universities ranked in the latest Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, placing third globally behind India and Pakistan.
The rankings assess over 2,500 universities worldwide based on their contributions to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
The Philippines surpassed Thailand and Indonesia in total representation and more than doubled its entries from last year’s 56 institutions.
Ateneo de Manila University remained the country’s top school, improving its rank to the 101-200 tier, followed by Batangas State University, Isabela State University, and the University of the Philippines.
Despite the Philippines’ lead in numbers, Indonesia claimed the region’s highest individual ranking with Universitas Airlangga reaching the global top 10 for the first time.
