MORE HEADS MAY ROLL IN ₱1.4-B OWWA LAND DEAL PROBE

A probe is underway to determine if more officials are involved in the alleged anomalous ₱1.4-billion land acquisition by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), which led to the removal of its chief Arnell Ignacio.

The land, intended for OFW housing near NAIA, was reportedly unsuitable for development and bypassed OWWA board approval.

Ignacio and deputy Emma Sinclair are accused of manipulating property records to reclassify the deal and reduce tax payments by ₱84 million.

The Presidential Communications Office said that while the OWWA trust fund appears untouched, further verification is ongoing.

Malacañang confirmed Ignacio’s dismissal was prompted by a whistleblower complaint sent to the Office of the President.
