To ensure smooth operations for the May 12 elections, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) will conduct mock polls across 30 barangays in the country today.
The mock elections will simulate the full voting process, helping Comelec assess the automated election system’s (AES) readiness.
This exercise is required by Republic Act 9369 before the AES can be certified as operating properly, securely, and accurately.
The mock polls will be held in select areas in Metro Manila, Luzon, the Visayas, Mindanao, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
