MICHAEL RAMA APPEALS TO SUPREME COURT OVER DISMISSAL

Former Cebu City mayor Michael Rama has asked the Supreme Court to issue a temporary restraining order (TRO) against the Ombudsman’s decision dismissing him from office and barring him from holding public office.

Rama, who is running for mayor in the 2025 elections, argued that the Ombudsman committed grave abuse of discretion and violated his right to a speedy case resolution.

He also urged the high court to compel the Ombudsman to resolve his case promptly and reinstate him as mayor.

The former mayor cited the prolonged delay in the case, saying it casts doubt on his qualifications as a candidate.

With the campaign period set to begin, he seeks immediate relief to clear his name before the elections.
