Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto urged citizens to live with integrity and help break the culture of corruption as two barangay captains were preventively suspended over alleged falsification of documents and procurement irregularities.
He announced on Nov. 30 during the 162nd birth anniversary of Andres Bonifacio, highlighting the role of ordinary citizens in gathering evidence and reporting misconduct.
Sotto emphasized the importance of strengthening institutions for transparency, justice, and accountability, while noting past cases of official convictions that yielded little lasting change.
The mayor said his administration would focus on sharing evidence with the national government and implementing reforms at the local level to ensure lasting impact.
The commemoration also featured the unveiling of Bonifacio’s historical marker, symbolizing courage, truth, and citizen engagement in promoting meaningful change in Pasig.
