Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto urged the public to avoid violence following protests at the St. Gerrard Construction Building, where protesters threw mud and spray-painted accusations of corruption.
He expressed concern for the safety of security guards, workers, and protesters, emphasizing that violent acts could harm innocent people, not the corrupt.
Despite the anger, Sotto encouraged continued peaceful efforts for accountability and stronger institutions, assuring that the momentum is moving in the right direction.
He also affirmed that the local government is actively cooperating with national agencies to investigate and prosecute wrongdoing related to construction companies and other violations.
The mayor promised that criminal cases and administrative actions concerning illegal structures and tax issues will persist as part of the city’s efforts.
