Masbate City Mayor Socrates Tuason has officially filed his certificate of candidacy for the 2025 gubernatorial race, emphasizing that true change requires more than just political charm.
Tuason, the provincial chairman of the Liberal Party, aims to tackle pressing issues such as inadequate water and power utilities, illegal gambling, and rampant debt, which he claims has reached P2.7 billion due to mismanagement.
Accompanied by his wife, City Vice Mayor Rowena Tuason, and Board Member candidates Julius Aguilar and Alexander Albao, he expressed his concerns over the province’s stagnation over the past 15 years.
In an interview, Tuason criticized the local government’s neglect of essential services, stating, “The provincial funds should be used for basic services.”
He pledged to provide 24-hour power service, improve hospitals, and combat illegal fishing and gambling if elected.
