MARIKINA MAYOR TEODORO TO REMAIN ON BALLOT AMID DISQUALIFICATION CONTROVERSY

Marikina City Mayor Marcelino Teodoro’s name will remain on the ballot for the city’s first district representative race, despite a disqualification ruling from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) First Division.

The decision hinges on the outcome of his motion for reconsideration, with Comelec Chairman George Garcia confirming that Teodoro’s candidacy is still valid until the en banc makes a final ruling.

Teodoro’s disqualification stems from allegations of material misrepresentation in his certificate of candidacy, particularly concerning his residency in Barangay San Roque.

If the en banc upholds the First Division’s decision, Teodoro’s votes may be considered stray, complicating the election results.

However, supporters remain optimistic about his chances to address the allegations and secure his place on the ballot.
