President Marcos unveiled the senatorial slate for the administration coalition Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas, featuring familiar names, including two of his former rivals from the 2022 election.
The list includes prominent figures such as Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos, Makati Mayor Abigail Binay, and former senators Panfilo Lacson, Manny Pacquiao, and Vicente Sotto, among others.
Notably absent from the announcement was Imee Marcos, the President’s sister, who was campaigning elsewhere.
Marcos highlighted the importance of supporting candidates aligned with his legislative agenda, emphasizing that shared goals for improving the lives of Filipinos were paramount.
Meanwhile, Vice President Sara Duterte clarified that she is not forming a rival senatorial slate, focusing instead on her responsibilities in the Office of the Vice President while leaving open the possibility of involvement in the upcoming elections.
