Following President Marcos’ directive, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced plans to replace the steep and towering EDSA-Kamuning footbridge in Quezon City with a more accessible structure.
Commonly dubbed “Mt. Kamuning” due to its height equivalent to a five-story building, the footbridge has faced public criticism for being difficult to climb, especially for the elderly, persons with disabilities, and those carrying heavy loads.
The new footbridge will be lower, linked to the EDSA busway station, and equipped with an elevator to improve convenience for commuters.
Construction is expected to begin this year, though the completion date has yet to be announced.
This initiative is part of the Marcos administration’s broader effort to make Metro Manila’s infrastructure more pedestrian-friendly and integrated with mass transit systems.
