MARCOLETA DEMANDS FASTER AUDITS FOR FLOOD CONTROL PROJECTS

SAGIP Party-List Rep. Rodante Marcoleta urged the Commission on Audit (COA) to conduct more timely audits on flood control projects to ensure quality and accountability.

Marcoleta emphasized that immediate audits would help assess if projects meet specifications and hold contractors accountable for any shortcomings.

He highlighted the recent extensive flooding in Metro Manila caused by Typhoon Carina and the southwest monsoon as evidence of the need for better oversight.

Marcoleta criticized the current post-audit system, arguing that issues should be identified and addressed from the start.

He called on the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to assist in pinpointing and investigating problematic projects and contractors.
