Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo is visiting the United States to meet with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on June 9 and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on June 11.
The Department of Foreign Affairs announced Manalo’s departure from Manila and confirmed his Washington, D.C. meeting will cover “matters of mutual interests,” though specific details were not disclosed.
After Washington, Manalo will travel to New York to keynote the 127th Philippine Independence Day celebration and participate in a United Nations event focused on the rights of persons with disabilities.
Manalo emphasized the Philippines’ commitment to supporting the UN and international peace as it marks its 80th anniversary.
He is also set to become the next Philippine Permanent Representative to the United Nations, succeeding Ambassador Antonio Lagdameo.
