Malacañang has called for a deeper investigation into alleged ghost flood-control projects in Taguig City, assuring the public that there will be no cover-up in the ongoing probe.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon clarified that his statement at a Senate hearing referred to projects already conclusively identified as ghost projects, while the questioned Taguig projects remain under validation.
Senator Panfilo Lacson has questioned the findings, citing a DPWH report in which geotagged photographs for a Taguig project reportedly showed coordinates in Leyte, about 600 kilometers away.
Dizon said the DPWH has flagged several projects in Taguig and continues to investigate them, stressing that conclusions should not be drawn while validation is ongoing.
Lacson has warned of possible criminal liability for any attempt to cover up alleged irregularities, while authorities continue examining the projects and related records.
