Malacañang challenged Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong to present proof supporting his claim that the P6.326-trillion national budget is being used as an “election fund.”
Presidential Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said accusations without evidence could damage the government’s reputation and all politicians, including those uninvolved.
She urged Magalong to provide proof if legal cases arise related to the General Appropriations Act.
The Palace also defended the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), stating that aid programs are accessible to everyone, not just politicians.
President Marcos denied allegations of blank budget items and expressed confidence that the budget would withstand legal scrutiny.
