Malacañang clarified that while January 27 is a legal holiday for the observance of Isra Wal Mi’raj, it only applies to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and other Muslim areas as defined in the Muslim Code.
Muslims in other regions, like the National Capital Region, are excused from work on this day, according to Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.
Isra Wal Mi’raj commemorates the Prophet Muhammad’s miraculous journey to the heavens, a revered event in Islam.
President Marcos acknowledged the significance of the event, calling it a symbol of spiritual resilience and devotion to Allah.
He also emphasized that the occasion encourages perseverance and the pursuit of a peaceful and progressive nation through sacrifice, faith, and unity.
