Makati City is resuming its school-based immunization program, providing free vaccines to over 7,600 elementary school students to protect them from vaccine-preventable diseases such as measles, rubella, tetanus, diphtheria, and human papillomavirus (HPV).
Mayor Abby Binay emphasized the city’s commitment to prioritizing student health, stating that the program aims to ensure a safe educational environment for children.
The immunization initiative, running from October 11 to November 22, 2024, will benefit 7,621 students from 24 public elementary and high schools.
Vaccines will be administered to students in Grades 1 and 7, while Grade 4 female students will receive the HPV vaccine in two doses.
In addition to this program, Makati City continues to provide free vaccinations for infants and children up to 12 months as part of its comprehensive health initiatives.
