MACAU BLACK BEARS EYE PARTICIPATION IN PBA’S 2026 COMMISSIONER’S AND GOVERNORS’ CUPS

The Macau Black Bears have expressed strong interest in joining the PBA’s Commissioner’s and Governors’ Cups this season, though final approval rests with the Board of Governors, PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial said.

Macau representatives recently visited the PBA office to discuss participation in both conferences and a proposed mini pocket-tournament during the 40-day Asian Games break.

Another Southeast Asian team has also shown interest, but details remain unconfirmed.

The Commissioner’s Cup, scheduled March 11-May 13, allows imports of unlimited height, while the Governors’ Cup, starting July 10, has a 6-6 height limit, with Macau expected to field players like 7-6 Sam Deguara and other US-born locals.

Eligibility rules will follow the same guidelines previously applied to Bay Area and Hong Kong Eastern teams, requiring proper documentation for local players.
