Former Iloilo City mayor Jed Mabilog expressed optimism about receiving justice regarding the accusations made by former President Rodrigo Duterte, who labeled him a “drug protector.”
Speaking at a press conference to mark his 59th birthday, Mabilog stated he believes the current administration under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will treat him and his family fairly. He highlighted a sense of balance and fairness in the current governance, emphasizing that individuals now receive due process and proper investigations.
Mabilog recounted past experiences, including a plot against his life in 2017 and pressure to falsely implicate political figures in drug-related accusations.
He underscored the need for local officials to be better educated on drug issues, asserting that while local governance plays a role in policymaking, enforcement should remain the responsibility of the police and relevant agencies.
