The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has suspended a motorcycle rider’s license for 90 days after he partially covered his license plate with tape to evade the No-Contact Apprehension Policy (NCAP) system.
The motorcycle’s registered owner, a resident of San Juan City, received a show cause order and must submit a written explanation by June 3 to avoid further penalties.
The LTO has also placed the motorcycle “under alarm” to prevent its use in official transactions while the case is being investigated.
The agency filed charges for violating the Land Transportation and Traffic Code and deemed the owner an “improper person to operate a motor vehicle.”
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has warned that motorists caught covering their plates to bypass NCAP could face fines of up to P5,000.
