The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has ordered nationwide inspections of buses and transport terminals ahead of the Undas travel rush to ensure passenger safety and comfort.
LTFRB Chair Vigor Mendoza II directed regional offices to assess vehicle conditions, driver readiness, and terminal facilities, including clean and well-maintained restrooms.
He emphasized that comfortable and well-lit waiting areas must be provided at minimal or no cost to passengers.
Mendoza also announced that the agency will deploy “mystery passengers” starting Oct. 24 to check compliance with transport standards.
The LTFRB said such inspections will now be conducted regularly, not just during peak travel seasons.
