The opposition Liberal Party (LP), aiming to regain political ground after recent electoral setbacks, plans to field approximately six candidates in the upcoming senatorial elections under President Marcos’s administration.
Despite challenges in completing their slate, LP President Rep. Edcel Lagman emphasized their independent stance, distancing themselves from both the ruling coalition and the Marcos administration.
Lagman hinted at potential issue-based alliances, particularly on issues like the West Philippine Sea and the International Criminal Court’s investigation into the drug war.
He also expressed openness to alliances on a per-issue basis while maintaining LP’s opposition role.
