The House of Representatives and the Senate will resume their sessions today, November 4, with the ratification of the P6.352-trillion national budget as the primary focus.
Majority Leader Manuel Jose “Mannix” Dalipe expressed hope that the Senate would quickly pass the budget bill to facilitate the formation of a bicameral committee for a unified version.
The goal is to ratify the bicameral report before the December 20 Christmas break, ensuring the budget is ready for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s signature by year-end.
In addition to budget discussions, the House plans to continue its oversight hearings on various issues, including the drug war and the use of funds by the Department of Education and the Office of the Vice President.
Senate President Francis Escudero confirmed that the Senate will also prioritize the national budget, with expectations to pass it by November 26 and hold the bicameral meetings between November 28 and 30.
